The three books in this section all talk about Spanish history from a different perspective.
The Story of Spain is an excellent introduction to Spain's history and culture, from its origins to the present day. Spain: A Literary Companion, as the name suggests, is a compilation of recorded observations of Spain, its history, culture, politics, and people. The author mixes his own experience with that of other travellers, writers, soldiers, adventurers, saints and sinners. Sounds like a fun read to us. Al-Andalus or How Nature Shaped History is a wonderfully illustrated, personal tribute to the Iberian Peninsula. These books will strike a chord of interest in all those who hold Spain dear to their heart. €29 |
Acclaimed as one of the greatest literary works of all time, Don Quixote has delighted generations of readers since it was first published in Spain in 1605.

Our village of Almoharin is famous for its dry fig variety called calabacita, or little pumpkin. In fact, Almoharín promotes itself as the Fig Capital of Europe.
The figs are collected from the ground in the early summer mornings, sorted, given a quick wash and left to develop a white, powder-like coating. They keep for months, but that doesn’t really matter. They never last long once you open your package. Trust us. But it does mean you can get more than one package! We like to have them with our porridge or muesli in the morning, and they go great with salads. » When I tried the dry figs from Almoharín, I became hooked. They are a staple now. « Klemen, Slovenia €25 |
Looking for a perfect gift to take to that dinner party and impress the hostess?
We recommend a box of exquisite fig bonbons.* Not that we have anything to do with it, but we are so proud of the local fig factory. Founded in 1989, they have stuck to one product only - fig bonbons. At Rabitos Royale, they select the best figs, fill them with flavoured chocolate truffle, cover them with a thin layer of chocolate and voilá. The bonbons come in 4 varieties. Pick your favourite! - dark chocolate with a touch of brandy - milk chocolate with a touch of salted caramel - white chocolate with a touch of strawberry - ruby chocolate with a touch of Marc de cava (sparkling wine) NEW! Delicious! » Thank you for introducing us to the fig chocolates! We are taking some home! « Peter and Maggie, UK €25 *In order to preserve their quaility, we only ship them in the cooler months, generally from October till April.
**Please keep in mind we can only ship food products to Europe. |
Pimentón de la Vera is so famous, world-renowned chefs use it in their cooking.
Take Jamie Oliver, for example. His Baked Paprika Cheese recipe only uses two ingredients, paprika and cheese, both from Extremadura. Here's what he has to say about this 'smokey, gooey and delicious' vegetarian dish: » For this recipe we used Torta del Casar, a soft-centered sheep’s milk cheese from Extremadura. If you can’t find it, try similar French or Portuguese cheeses that bake well. « You can find the recipe here. While we don't sell the cheese, you can get the paprika, just choose your intensity - sweet, semisweet or hot. €12 |
We wanted to end on a sweet note... (drumroll, please)
We present our hot, finger-lickin' chocolate treat, Paladin! Don't be fooled, this is not a cocoa drink. This is a thick, gooey chocolate drink, ideal for dipping your churros (not included!), or just about anything edible in need of some extra sweetness. It only takes a minute to prepare, so ideal for those midnight munchies. €19 |
